‘ABSTRACT’ – Official definition of abstract photography, according to Wikipedia … “Abstract Art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of visual references to the world.”
On the most part, my abstracts fall within ‘Wikipedia’s rules, but I don’t mind breaking the rules, frequently, because quite frankly – I Hate Rules – they stifle my creativity! I’m often asked “What’s the meaning of this abstract? I don’t get it“ of which I always respond, “The meaning is ‘Always’ whatever meaning ‘you’ give it – how it makes ;you’ feel.” Period! Pretty simple really – and very personal.
You are cordially invited to relax your judgments of what you ‘should’ see and allow yourself to ‘feel’ each image. Remember, it doesn’t have to make sense anymore that music does. Both can alter you emotions without any logical explanation. Pay attention to how you ‘feel’ as you experience each image, how it triggers your life experiences. And let me know you think, or better yet, feel about my work (email link below). ENJOY the Ride!
I have a yellow sticky note posted next to my computer which says “Make a Difference?” This reminds me that in every image I create, my goal is to move the watcher – to encourage emotion or thought or change. A particular image may infuriate, make you cry or make you laugh, feel depressed or joyous, flat or excited, etc. - same image, far different results depending on how the ‘watcher’ relates, which is always based on the their life experience. And that very same image, seen at different times of life may illicit a completely different emotional response.
